Is Cold pressed juice an effective health drink?

Well the results are in!  Juice proven to be effective health drink!

 

Without being told we all pretty much know that more fruits and veggies in our diets is a good thing.  But the way in which you consume them is at times up for some debate.  From raw, to steamed, mashed to whole, there are a multitude of ways to get more fresh produce into your body.

 

Well it turns out that the science is now in for drinking them!  And on top of being quick, convenient, and tasty, it is super good for you as well!

The Study

According to the study published in Scientific Reports, adults who consumed fruit and vegetable juice exclusively for at least 3 days before returning to their customary diets saw benefits that lasted in BMI and microbiome health.  These results lingered way past the introduction of the juice diet.  Giving a real indication of just how beneficial fresh pressed juice is to your gut health and what a wonderful and effective health drink it is.

 

“…adults consumed only vegetable/fruit juices for 3 days followed by 14 days of customary diet. On day 4 we observed a significant decrease in weight and body mass index (p = 2.0E−05), which was maintained until day 17 (p = 3.0E−04). On day 4 the proportion of the phylum Firmicutes and Proteobacteria(*1) in stool was significantly decreased and Bacteroidetes(*2) and Cyanobacteria was increased compared to baseline and was partially reversed on day 17.” (quote link)

Factoids: 

*1) “Proteobacteria” are associated with the imbalance of microbiota of the lower reproductive tract of women

*2) In the gastrointestinal microbiota “Bacteroidetes” have a very broad metabolic potential and are regarded as one of the most stable part of gastrointestinal microflora. Reduced abundance of the “Bacteroidetes” in some cases is associated with obesity.

 

Our Take

Here at farm juice, we know this.  We know this from personal experience, and from the experiences of our customers. As well as from the general consensus of everyone in our field.  Fresh, pure, cold pressed juice has an effect on not just your overall well being, but also on your gut and your biome.  And as health drinks go, we know ours is one of the freshest and purest forms available.  This is not hype, or suspicion as this study now proves.  Results from a juice fast of course vary by the individual. But if you are looking for a quick, effective, and healthy way to reset your diet then juice fasting is the way to go.

 

We know you do not have to dive right into a pure juice fast to gain the benefits of the above mentioned study.  But adding fresh juice to your daily diet is a fantastic first step, a short juice cleanse sure is an easy way to reset your diet.


JUICE FASTING 101

When doing a juice fast we have a few proven suggestions to help beginners out with their health drink journey.

 

  • First and foremost, as with all dietary changes we suggest you consult with your care provider before starting any fast, cleanse, or diet.
  • In the days leading up to your fast, try to stick to the least processed foods you can.
  • At least 24 hours before your fast try not to consume caffeine, to ease the withdrawal symptoms during your fast.  

Factoid: Much of the discomfort that people experience during a juice fast is actually withdrawal from caffeine, gluten, and synthetic sweeteners

 

  • While on your fast space your juices out during your waking hours but no later than 4 hours before the time you plan to go to bed.  
  • DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

 

Tip: You may feel a low point during your fast that may overcome you and force you to break your fast.  Try as a last effort to nibble on a raw veggie like baby carrots.  Sometimes people just need to satisfy the urge to chew in order to complete their fast.

 

  • When you finish your fast be very careful how you reintroduce food groups to your diet.  Gluten, caffeine, and other things such as dairy may upset your stomach if introduced too quickly.

Factoid: When you have completed a fast of at least three days, your digestive system is free of gluten, dairy, animal products, all artificial ingredients, and refined sugars to name a few.  Think and plan carefully about what you wish to put into your now fresh and reset body.  As this will help you avoid falling back into bad habits.


In conclusion, Juice is a Health Drink
